CATEGORIES for FOREIGN WORKERS who want to immigrate to Canada
Skilled Worker Category Eligibility
Here are the eligibility criteria that you need to meet to apply for the Skilled Worker category:
- Submit the required documentation in original or in certified true copies
- Have a valid work permit and legal status in Canada
- Hold the required certification or accreditation for the occupation which depends on the job description of your employer as well as the requirements for the National Occupation Classification (NOC)
- Meet the requirements of certification, licensing, or registration of the job in the Northwest Territories
- Full-time work experience of at least 1 year within the last 10 years before submitting your application
- Have a complete assessment of international educational credentials if you graduated outside Canada such as an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) that is approved by IRCC
- Meet the required language level in Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) depending on your NOC occupation:
- NOC 0 and A – Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 and/or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) Level 7 for each language’s respective language skills
- NOC B – Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5 and/or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) Level 5 for each language’s respective language skills
- Language test results valid for 2 years from the date you submitted your application
- Financial capability to settle and support family members in Northwest Territories
Express Entry Category Eligibility
You can apply for the Express Entry category stream in Northwest Territories if you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Registered Express Entry profile
- Received an acceptance letter for Express Entry Pool from IRCC
- Provide a valid job seeker code
- Maintain valid status in Canada while your application is still being processed
- Submit an expression of interest in living permanently in the Northwest Territories
Entry Level or Semi-Skilled Category Eligibility
These are the criteria that you need to meet to be eligible to apply for this category stream:
- Submit the required documentation in original or in certified true copies
- Have a valid work permit and legal status in Canada

BUSINESS STREAM

Business stream offers entrepreneurs from outside Canada to open, buy, or invest in a business in Northwest Territories that they want to operate.
However, there are criteria that you need to meet for you to be eligible to open, buy, or invest in a business in the Northwest Territories:
- Invest the required amount depending on the location of the business that you will open or purchase:
- At least $300,000 CAD if it’s located within the corporate boundaries
- At least $150,000 CAD if it’s located outside the corporate boundaries
- Own at least 33.3% of your business
- Net worth depending on the location of the business that you will open or purchase:
- At least $500,000 CAD of net worth if it’s located within the corporate boundaries
- At least $250,000 CAD of net worth if it’s located outside the corporate boundaries
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 and/or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) Level 4 for each language’s respective language skills
- Language test results valid for 2 years from the date you submitted your application
- Demonstrate understanding of the economy of the Northwest Territories
- Show reasonable skills in communicating to operate and integrate your business in the communities of the Northwest Territories
- Related work experience and educational background to implement your business plan successfully
- Financial capability to open or buy or settle and support family members in the Northwest Territories
- Intention to live in the Northwest Territories permanently
