INTRA-COMPANY TRANSFER WORK PERMIT
with Chitra & Associates Immigration Consultants
The Intra Company Transferee policy permits international companies to temporarily transfer qualified employees to Canada for the purpose of improving management effectiveness, expanding Canadian exports, and enhancing the competitiveness of Canadian entities in overseas markets. This policy is developed pursuant to subsection 205(a) of the IRPR.
Intra-company transferees may apply for a work permit under R205(a) if they are currently employed by a multi-national company and they are seeking entry to work in a parent, a branch, a subsidiary, or an affiliate of that enterprise.
Foreign companies that are establishing or purchasing a subsidiary, branch or affiliate enterprise in Canada may transfer employees in an executive, senior managerial or specialized knowledge capacity to work in the Canadian enterprise under the intra-company transfer program.
There are 3 main categories of employees that you can transfer:
- Senior Managerial
- Specialized Knowledge
There are special provisions for Start-up companies who want to apply for intra-company transfer to establish their Branch, Affiliate or a Subsidiary in Canada. If you are looking to start a Branch, Affiliate or a Subsidiary of your existing company in Canada, our team at Chitra & Associates Immigration Consultants would be happy to assist.

Intra-Company Transfer Work Permit Case Study
A software development company headquartered in India wanted to transfer their CEO (Co-Owner) to Canada. The CEO had been running the software development company for over a decade and was qualified to establish the company in Canada.
We assisted them in incorporating the Subsidiary in Canada and transferring their executive from India to Canada, along with his family members. During the process, we helped with creating a strategy for the CEO to immigrate to Canada, helped with the foundational set up of the business in Canada, strengthened the ICT profile with a business plan for the Canadian business, and completed the relevant immigration requirements.
ICT has established provisions for start-ups and hence it can be a good stepping stone for the LMIA work permit.

Reviews From Our Clients
BACKGROUND My wife and I are business executives in the US and were evaluating Canada as an immigration destination. We had created our Express Entry profile and despite having stellar credentials (including a 8.5 on IELTS) we did not meet the cutoff due to our age (we are in our early forties). We were thus on a lookout for a genuine and knowledgeable guide who could give us reliable advice on potential options that were available to us. RESEARCH STAGE Chitra & Associates Immigation Consultants (C&AIC) fit our requirement perfectly. We found through an exhaustive research exercise (which including reading each and every Google Review among other things). PRE-ENGAGEMENT STAGE From the get go, we found C&AIC to be extremely professional, knowledgeable and ethical in their approach. We noticed that they did not try to hard-sell their services or over-promise anything. Instead they took a genuine interest in helping us meet our goals in the easiest, ethical and cost-effective manner (even if it meant cannibalizing their own revenue). This was a huge departure from multiple conversations we had had with other firms/professionals previously and immediately built trust. They were also well-versed in Canadian immigration programs (by regions and immigrant categories) which was a prerequisite. POST ENGAGEMENT STAGE Once we signed the agreement (which was a very smooth process), Chitra Bhatia's guidance on steps involved was precise (with clear scope, requirements, and timelines). Being a process consultant, I found her detailed task checklist/project plan to be very helpful and their use of current digital tools to be quite convenient. DELIVERY STAGE Once we started fulfilling documentation related requirements, C&AIC were prompt in their actions. Any exceptions were clearly communicated in advance and impact discussed. They were prompt with their follow-ups which helped us stay on track and were always available to answer questions. In terms of application assets, I found the level of detail and overall quality to be impressive (esp. business plan developed by Neekita Bhatia). Given their competency and experience, our conversations regarding my company's expansion strategy in Canada was a breeze and very Big 4 management consulting type. Veevak Bhatia's precise guidance related to Canadian financial institutions helped us overcome logistical issues faced while fulfilling finance related application requirements (despite the pandemic). FINAL OUTCOME 100% success (with full satisfaction). RECOMMENDATION If you've read this far, I should be obvious what you should do. If its not - book a consultation with C&AIC rightaway. Believe me, you won't regret it. ALL THE BEST (to them and all who are reading this review).
'Enthusiasm, energy, dynamism and positivism… all of those bubble to the surface when interacting with Chitra. An excellent human being, with great interpersonal skills, I think she will go very far indeed in whichever profession she chooses. Don’t miss the reassuring smile, present even in the most trying circumstances.'
